Why we exist

We learned the hard way.

A Little Birdie was started by someone who trusted the wrong person. The court records that would have warned them existed the whole time, but finding them meant knowing which county to search and paying a handful of sites for access. Nobody actually does that. So after it was over, they built the thing they wish they'd had.

What we found

When something feels off about someone, most people Google them. That works maybe 10% of the time. The rest lives in databases that are technically public but practically unreachable: court filings, public records, professional licenses, the actual paper trail. You'd spend hours and need subscriptions to a dozen different sites to piece it together yourself.

So we automated it. A Little Birdie searches 40+ sources at once and hands you a plain-English report. No legal background needed. No wading through raw PDFs. Just what we found, clearly explained.

A clean result is peace of mind. A red flag is something you needed to see before the lease was signed, or the second date, or the wire transfer.

A few things worth saying

We only pull public records
Everything in a Birdie report is already out there. We didn't hack anything, we don't have secret access. We just search faster and in more places than any person reasonably could.
The person you look up won't find out
We don't notify anyone when they're searched. Your search is private and there's no trail left behind on their end.
Running a check isn't a red flag
People act like doing a little research is suspicious. We don't. You vet contractors, you read reviews before a restaurant. This is the same thing.
We're honest about what we can't find
Every report includes a section on what we couldn't access. Some records are sealed, some states don't digitize well, some people just don't have much of a paper trail. We'll tell you that upfront.

Who we are

We're a small team of engineers. We launched in February 2026 and have been at it every day since. The product today is a lot better than it was on day one, and it'll be better next month too.

We're not trying to be a background check company in the traditional sense. Those are slow, expensive, and built for HR departments. We're building something for regular people who just want to know who they're dealing with.

One important thing

A Little Birdie is not a consumer reporting agency and our reports are not for employment screening, tenant decisions, or anything covered by the FCRA. This is for personal use only.

If you need a formal background check for hiring or housing, you'll need a licensed CRA. That's not us, and we're upfront about that.
