Privacy Policy

Effective March 2, 2026

A Little Birdie Told Me, Inc. ("A Little Birdie," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at alittlebirdie.com and the A Little Birdie background intelligence service (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: When you sign up or sign in, we collect your email address through our authentication provider (Supabase Auth, which supports email-based and social login).
  • Search inputs: When you submit a lookup, you provide information about the person you are investigating, which may include their name, city, state, age, employer, phone number, email address, social media usernames, and a free-text description.
  • Feedback: If you submit feedback through our feedback form, we collect your name (optional), email (optional), and message.
  • Payment information: When you purchase a report, your payment is processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not directly store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers. We may receive limited payment information from Stripe, such as the last four digits of your card and billing email.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Session tokens: We generate a random session identifier stored in your browser's local storage to maintain your session and track your plan status.
  • Usage data: We may collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and timestamps.
  • Device and browser information: We may collect your browser type, operating system, and device type through standard web server logs.

1.3 Information from Third-Party Sources

Our Service searches publicly available information from third-party sources to generate reports. These sources include public records, court records, social media profiles, professional license databases, news archives, alumni directories, and other publicly accessible data. This information pertains to the subjects of lookups, not to you as a user (unless you search for yourself).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the Service: We use your search inputs to conduct investigations and generate reports.
  • To process payments: We use payment-related data to complete transactions and manage your subscription.
  • To authenticate you: We use your email address and session token to manage your account and grant access to your reports.
  • To improve the Service: We use aggregated, anonymized usage data to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.
  • To communicate with you: We may use your email to send you reports, respond to feedback, or provide important service updates.
  • To comply with legal obligations: We may use your information as required by applicable law.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We share data with third-party providers that help us operate the Service, including Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Vercel (hosting), Railway (backend hosting), and AI model providers (Anthropic, Exa, SerpAPI, Tavily) used to process searches. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request.
  • Business transfers: If A Little Birdie is acquired, merged, or sells assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information and generated reports for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Search inputs and report data are stored in our database so you can access your past reports. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at hello@alittlebirdie.com.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and correction: You can access your reports through your dashboard. To update or correct account information, contact us at hello@alittlebirdie.com.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing hello@alittlebirdie.com.
  • Local storage: You can clear your browser's local storage at any time to remove session tokens and cached plan data.
  • California residents: If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us at hello@alittlebirdie.com and we will promptly delete it.

8. FCRA Disclaimer

A Little Birdie is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The Service does not provide consumer reports and may not be used for purposes covered by the FCRA, including but not limited to employment screening, tenant screening, credit decisions, insurance underwriting, or any other eligibility determination. Reports are compiled from publicly available information for personal, informational use only.

9. Third-Party Links

Our reports may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., LinkedIn profiles, court records databases). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information to them.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
